6 de Outubro de 2011. Estamos no top da via “Oeste” (300m, V) da Aguja Negra, nos Galayos, Serra de Gredos. Os antebraços acusam o tamanho da via e a névoa que se vai instalando à nossa volta lembra-nos a urgência em baixar para o refúgio.
Porém, momentaneamente, a névoa dissipa-se e permite-nos olhar em redor. A vista do Tórreon desde a Aguja Negra mostra-nos todo o seu esplendor e justifica a fama que esta agulha carrega. Uma seta de granito apontada aos céus. Uau!

Hora combinada para a saída de Espinho. A Eva e o Zé estão em pulgas. Apanhamos o Marco em casa e siga em direcção a Nogal del Barranco. O plano é simples: bivacar no parque de estacionamento, fazer a aproximação ao Tórreon passando pelo refúgio Victory, ascender o Tórreon pela via Direta Sur Clássica (140m, V/V+) e baixar novamente até Nogal del Barranco para pernoitar. Deste modo teríamos apenas de carregar o material necessário para a escalada sem necessidade de pernoitar na base da parede.
Chegamos a Nogal del Barranco e o parque de estacionamento está… cheio! Parece que não fomos os únicos a aproveitar o fim de semana solarengo para vir Galayar…

Acordamos ainda o sol vinha a caminho. A temperatura estava óptima e a vontade de pôr as mãos na rocha era muita. Separado o material para as duas cordadas começamos a aproximação que, para quem tem de se preparar para as provas de trail que se avizinham, vinha mesmo a calhar.
A temperatura elevada começava a fazer as primeiras vítimas. Neste mesmo dia estava a decorrer o Ultra Trail de Gredos com passagem pelos Galayos (o refúgio situava-se ao km 63 da prova de 80 km). Os primeiros atletas apareciam a pedir água ainda estando longe do refúgio. Mal sabiam eles que o único ponto de abastecimento de água era a fonte situada no trilho para Nogal del Barranco e que esta apenas deixava cair um fiozinho de água…
Avançamos em direcção ao Tórreon e, para acelerar a ascensão, decidimos que apenas formaríamos uma cordada. Eu seria o varredor de serviço (na última vinda aos Galayos tivemos de abandonar um entalador na via e uma cordada que estava agora a escalar na face norte do Tórreon tinha acabado de deixar um friend lá entalado…)
Conseguimos dar relativamente bem com o início da via. Um pitão numa placa vertical denunciou a localização. A Eva ameaçou que se não a deixassem abrir este largo atirava-se dali abaixo. Lá teve de ser…
Chegamos à primeira reunião desde a qual já se tinha uma vista bastante aérea da Aguja Negra. O Zé abriu o segundo largo mas teve de tirar senha para montar a reunião. O sono começou a atacar…
O patamar da segunda reunião já era bastante cómodo e sombreado. Daqui já era possível ver o diedro do terceiro largo.

O quarto largo é uma pequena travessia no topo do Tórreon cujas descrições de várias ascensões apresentam como sendo algo de muito exposto e aéreo. De duas, uma: ou o chamamento para uma cerveja no refúgio nos toldou os sentidos ou as descrições são um tanto um quanto exageradas.
A verdade é que acabamos os quatro encavalitados no topo do Tórreon. Uns, a comer sandes de panado, outros, em sessões fotográficas.
O sol já se tinha posto e o vento começava a soprar (o que para alguém que está montado num bloco de granito em calções e t-shirt não é assim tão agradável). A partir dali foi baixar até ao refúgio onde, já no escuro da noite, a ambicionada cerveja nos aguardava.
Restava agora descer os 5 km com 900m de desnível até ao estacionamento. Prueba superada!
